| Sitges restaurants
Sitges boasts a huge number of restaurants offering many different European and world cuisines, as well
as local Catalan and Spanish cooking. Prices vary widely, though are on average low compared to the rest of Europe,
and the menu of the day usually offers particularly good value.
The following restaurants offer consistently good food, service and ambiance.
El Cisne - Sant Pere, 4 - Traditional local restaurant, serving Catalan dishes.
The three-course €12 menu (including bread and wine) is one of the best culinary bargains in Sitges:
choose from starters such as escalivada (roasted vegetables), xató (salt cod and tuna salad), followed
perhaps by grilled bream or the wonderful shoulder of lamb. If you
still have space, round off the meal with a particularly good crema
catalana (Catalan crème brûlée).
Santa Maria
- Passeig de la Ribera, 52 - Hectic seafood restaurant on the seafront, serving a wide range of traditional
fresh fish and other seafood dishes. Paella of course, as well as the local variation - fideua -
made with pasta noodles instead of rice.
Fragata
- Passeig de la Ribera, 10 - For a quieter seafood experience, this location is impossible
to beat. Right next to the Church, this sunny spot used to be the place where frigates would dock (before the land
was reclaimed!) and you can still see some of the old moorings. Sophisticated seafood, along with a
great wine list, make this a place to linger over an extremely long lunch. The set menu is very good value.
Oliver's
- Illa de Cuba, 39 - Small, friendly family-run restaurant, serving traditional
specialities from the Galicia region of Northern Spain in smart, comfortably surroundings.
Very popular, so it is almost always worth booking a table. One of the more expensive restaurants in Sitges,
but worth every cent.
Galicia - Angel Vidal, 20 - At the other end of the price range from Oliver's, this unpretentious
restaurant serves simple, fresh Galician food. The set menu is a bargain and portions are generous, particularly
the fish stews. Contrastingly, this is also one of the more popular restaurants in town for pizza, with the delivery drivers rushing
through the restaurant as you eat with their takeaway orders.
Alma - Tacó, 16 - Intimate French restaurant in one of the quieter streets of Sitges.
Traditional French cuisine with a Spanish flavour, this is definitely the place for fans of foie gras and duck.
Eguzki Lizarran
- Sant Pau, 3 - Traditional and delicious Basque tapas. Ask for a plate and a drink, then
help yourself from the huge array of dishes on the counter. At the end, pay according to how many cocktail
sticks (pinchos) you have on your plate.
