How do I get to Sitges?
Please see the Travel
page of our Sitges Guide
for details of all the options.
Where exactly is the apartment?
The street is named "Carrer del Cardenal Francesc Vidal i Barraquer". If you are looking for it on a map,
you will find various shortened versions of this name (understandably, there is not normally room for the full
name) and the apartment is a few metres around the corner from the Red Cross building.
What is the area like around the apartment?
The street is mainly residential, with just one shop (selling bread and cakes) and a small cafe and
restaurant further up the road.
The location was chosen because it is close enough to the central area of Sitges, yet is not itself in a busy vicinity.
This means it is relatively quiet at night when you are trying to sleep.
Close by is the "Poble Sec" area of Sitges. Here there are several local shops, banks, cafes, etc.
This has a village atmosphere, and provides an interesting contrast to the centre of Sitges.
The apartment is inside the "restricted development" area of Sitges. This limits the size and type of
buildings and ensures that any new development is in keeping with original architecture. This also means that
when the small apartment block was built (completed in 2003), it maintained the size and character of the two houses
that it replaced.
Can I park outside the apartment building?
Probably not, but there is usually no problem finding a space (free of charge) within a minute's walk. You can always stop outside
the apartment building to load/unload, even if there is no space to park there.
A car is certainly not required for getting around Sitges. One of the joys of being here is that everything is
so close together and a lot of the streets in the centre are free of traffic for most of the day.
However, if you want to visit some of the more far-flung (and quieter) beaches, or any of the interesting towns
and country areas around Sitges, you may want to rent a car for a few days during your stay.
How far away is the beach?
San Sebastian beach, next to the church in the centre of Sitges, is the nearest beach - about 600 metres away.
From the other side of the church, further beaches stretch uninterrupted for about 1.5 kilometres.
